Description
What is a better way to welcome monsoon than celebrating it in the beauty of nature? We are planning the trek where you can enjoy nature at it's best with no crowd, the place where you can experience and appreciate nature. This trek involves 2 scenic Ghat routes Waghjai and Sawashani, ancient historical Caves of Thanale, view of spectacular tail baila walls, and the majestic fort of Sudhagad. What is a better way to spend a weekend than this trek? The ‘Thanale’ excavations in this area are nearly 2200 years old. Thanale Caves or Nadsur Caves is a group of 23 Buddhist caves located 72 km (45 mi) to the southeast of Mumbai, in western Maharashtra at Thanale Village. These Ancient rock-cut Buddhist caves are located in a beautiful mountainous site. Trek starts in Thanale village and goes through dense forest, along waterfalls and mountain scenery.
Trek Itinerary
Day 0
Pick up from Borivali east ( SGNP Main Gate ) @23:00 hrs
We will start our journey from Borivali - JVLR road - End Location there will be few more convenient pickup points on the way. We shall reach the base village Thanale by 04:00 AM on Saturday morning.
This will be our starting point of Trek. Before starting we can take a rest for a few hours and have breakfast.
Day 1
Start trek by 08:00 AM.
Trek to Thanale Caves, Explore ancient caves.
Trek to Waghjai temple by Waghjai Ghat.
Lunch at Waghjai temple near a waterfall depending on weather condition.
Take rest and continue further from the huge plateau. From this plateau, one can have the spectacular view of majestic walls of Tail Baila. Soon we will reach to the top of Sawashani Ghat.
After descending from this ghat we will reach to Bahirampada village which will be the halting point for the day.
Day 2
We will proceed towards Sudhagad after breakfast. Reach at the top by lunchtime. Have lunch then explore the fort try to cover as much as we can. Later we will descend down and start our journey back home with lots of memories.
We will reach Mumbai around 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday.

- Spoon, Glass, Bowl & Plate (plastic or steel which is resuable - do not carry throwaway spoons or plates)
- Jackets (Rain / Woollen / Cotton - as per season)

- Extra Pair of clothes (which can be worn at end of the day or after trek completion)
- Extra Pair of Slippers / Sandals (which can be worn after trek completion)
- Sleeping Bag as per itinerary for multi-day treks

Important -
We follow no trace/litter policy. Please do not litter or throw garbage on trek routes/places.
Booking & Cancellation Policy
After a great and exciting day of planning, cancelling the trek is greatly painful. We understand such situations and that is why our cancellation policy is trekker friendly.
Please read carefully
- If cancellation is done 30 days prior to outing 100% will be refunded.
- If cancellation is done 2 days prior of outing 30% or booking amount will be refunded whichever is minimum.
- After that no refund will be provided.
We almost never call off/cancel our treks. But in the rare event that we call off/cancel a trek because of force majeure, OR natural calamities (continuous rain, thunderstorms, floods, landslides, earthquakes or any other natural calamity that prevents us from conducting a trek safely), OR unexpected situations like political unrest, curfews, local riots, pandemics, lockdowns, government orders OR any other issues that affect the safety of the whole group, we will allow you to transfer that amount (minus the insurance amount) for any of our future treks.
Please note that refund will be processed within 7 working days from the end date of the trek.
